Archana Pai Kulkarni is a former journalist, and an independent editor and writer. 

She studied English Literature at Kishinchand Chellaram College, Mumbai, and completed her Diploma in Creative Writing in English (DCE) from IGNOU.

She was Executive Editor of New Woman, a national women’s monthly, for 17 years, during which she wrote a column, Gut Reaction, on gender and social issues. Her English poems have been published in publications like The Indian P.E.N. and the Femina poetry page, and her Marathi poems for children have been published in Loksatta and Maharashtra Times. Her short stories have been published in the Indian P.E.N. and New Woman. Her opinion pieces, book reviews, author interviews and features have appeared on https://www.shethepeople.tv/ (STP). She has co-curated the Women Writers’ Fest in Pune for STP, for three consecutive years.

Archana is a practitioner of Yoga, and holds certifications from Yoga Vidya Niketan, and Ghantali Mitra Mandal. She has completed a Diploma Course in Yoga Education, and is a certified Yoga Teacher. Her deep interest in nutrition and natural living led her to complete a Nutrition Re-education Programme from The Health Awareness Centre, Mumbai. 

She has attended Creative Writing Workshops curated by American visual artist and author, Katherine Keefer. She also attended a Creative Writing India Workshop hosted by the University of East Anglia. She conducts Creative Writing Workshops under the aegis of EVAM.  

In the past, she has conducted English language classes for grades nine and ten, worked as Book Advisor with Time Life Books, worked in sales at a boutique, designed clothes, co-directed a couple of children’s plays, and edited a wellness and health site called Fitgenie. 

She has also done a bink-and-you-miss-it cameo in a Bollywood film.

Currently, Archana edits fiction and non fiction books for publication houses and independent writers. She also edits non-pharmacological content for a leading pharmaceutical. She is translating a work of biographical fiction, and a non fiction work, from Marathi to English. She works as Consulting Books Editor with STP.

Archana is also working on the final draft of her first novel. 

She is addicted to nature walks, reading, housekeeping, and the Sudarshan Kriya.
